An Arrest Warrant Has Been Issued For Rose McGowan

An arrest warrant has been issued for actor Rose McGowan.

The warrant has been issued in relation to a police search from January 20, after McGowan left personal belongings on a United flight landing at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Police say the items tested positive for narcotics, but they did not reveal what type of drugs they were. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department obtained the warrant on February 1.

The official charge is felony possession of a controlled substance, reports Deadline.

Police say they’ve attempted to contact McGowan so she can appear in a Loudoun County, Virginia, court.

Rob Yingling, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department said:

Her personal belongings that were left behind from a flight arriving on Jan. 20 tested positive for narcotics. Our police have attempted to contact Ms. McGowan so that she can appear in a Loudoun County Virginia court to respond to the charge.

McGowan, one of the many women who have accused Harvey Weinstein of rape and sexual assault, has called the warrant ‘bullsh*t’, claiming it is an attempt at silencing the 44-year-old’s mission to rid Hollywood of sexism and abuse.

She tweeted:

The Charmed actor has accused Weinstein of raping her in 1997, and claims that one of the disgraced producer’s close associates offered her $1 million to remain silent about the assault.

McGowan retweeted Ashlee Marie Preston who wrote: ‘If @rosemcgowan would have taken that million dollars in hush money I’m quite sure this wouldn’t even be a headline…’

She simply wrote, ‘FACT’:

Harvey Weinstein has been accused of many incidents of gross sexual misconduct – including harassment, sexual assault and rape – by over 80 women.

Many of these individuals are powerful women in the public eye, like Cara Delevingne, Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Blake Lively and Reese Witherspoon.

Ms McGowan has long fought to end the culture of silence against people in power, who abuse their positions and subsequently, abuse others.

Now, and only now, with safety in numbers, have these strong women felt able to talk about the abuse they suffered – and join McGowan – showing just how insipid and poisonous the nature of sexual abuse can be at the hands of powerful people.

In bravely telling their stories, these women have inspired others to come forward on social media, using the hashtag ‘Me Too’, in a cathartic but horrific display of how widespread sexual abuse is in wider society too.

There’s also the deafening silence of those survivors who’ve been unable to come forward, due to their circumstances, which we would be remiss to forget.

Meanwhile, many have cut ties with Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company, including Amazon Studios, Channing Tatum, Democratic politicians like Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and Kristen Gillibrand, who have said they’ll donate campaign funds they received from Weinstein to charity.
