Tom Hiddleston is now reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with a view to taking over the role of James Bond.

After Daniel Craig reportedly turned down an eye-watering £68 million offer to continue as 007, the rumour mill has been spinning into overdrive as people clamour to throw their hats into the ring for the coveted role.

Last week the Daily Mail reported that bookmakers had actually called off bets on Hiddleston becoming the next Bond – and it looks like they may have known more than they were letting on.

Movie news site Birth.Death.Movies, has now revealed that a source close to Hiddleston has told them that the Night Manager actor ‘very much’ wants the job and is in ‘advanced talks’ although no offer has been made as yet.

The news doesn’t come as too much of a surprise – Bond is a role that Hiddlestone has openly talked about playing.

So it looks like we won’t be getting our first black Bond (Idris Elba) or our first female Bond (Gillian Anderson) even after a fan petition took off on Twitter:

But to be fair, Tom Hiddlestone does seem like he would make a decent Bond, although if he does get the role he will have an incredibly tough act to follow.
