New Line CinemaMike Myers has revealed there’s a strong possibility of another Austin Powers film hitting our screens in the near future.
It’s been 16 years since the ‘shagadelic’ super spy was on our screens and Myers, the creator, seems very keen on putting on those fancy 60s suits and using that tiny little gun of his again (no innuendo).
He revealed his interest in returning to the role at the premiere for his new film Terminal.
Speaking at the premiere Myers told ET:
I can’t say. But it’s, you know, maybe. It’s a very strong maybe. We’ll see.
I would love to do a movie from Dr. Evil’s perspective. So it would be Dr. Evil 1, Austin Powers 4, is how I would roll.

While he’s stated he ‘would love to’ return to the role of the ‘International Man of Mystery’, part of the reason as to why Myers has been away from our screens for an extended period is because in the last six years, he’s had three kids and it’s where his main ‘focus has been’.
Myers added:
But, you know, I love doing all the characters and it’s a non-stop party when we’re shooting. It’s fun.
The spy comedy first debuted in 1997 with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. It’s success brought on two more sequels in the form of The Spy Who Sh*gged Me (1999) and Goldmember – which came out in 2002.
In all three films, Myers played both the title character and his arch nemesis, Dr Evil.
Myers’ desire to return to the role was echoed by the trilogy’s original director, Jay Roach, who offered fans of the big toothed, International Man of Mystery a ray of hope back in May 2016, telling Larry King Now:
You know, [Mike Myers and I] talk about it every time we get together. I would say it’s in a latent phase right now, but someday if we find the right idea that seems to have it earn itself, for sure.
Mike gave me the break of a lifetime in letting me direct [Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery] so I’m always good to go.
New Line CinemaIn April this year, actor Verne Troyer, who starred in the last two Austin Powers films as Dr Evil’s sidekick/clone Mini-Me, passed away at the age of 49.
He’d been struggling with alcoholism in the years preceding his death.
Meyers paid tribute to his co-star and friend, saying:
Verne’s legacy is that he was a fantastic comedy actor. We wrote it [and] the part wasn’t much, and he made it definitely better.
He was a great stuntman, a great dancer, a great mime and a great human being.
New Line CinemaBefore his death, Troyer was hospitalised with suspected alcohol poisoning after a friend had called emergency services claiming Verne was ‘extremely upset, drunk and suicidal’.
While Austin Powers hasn’t made an appearance on our screens since Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds (save that for some pub trivia), Meyers did reprise the iconic Dr Evil character on a sketch for the Tonight Show, where he took shots at US President Donald Trump.
While we may have to wait a bit longer before we get to see Meyers return as Austin Powers, we can see him in his latest film Terminal, which stars Margot Robbie, Simon Pegg, Jourdan Dunn and Lock, Stock & Smoking Barrels Dexter Fletcher and Nick Moran.
Terminal will be out in cinemas across the UK on July 6
