Everyone’s favourite easy-watching duo, Ant and Dec, have confirmed SMTV Live will be making a huge comeback next August.
The two-headed presenting pair confirmed the return will hit screens in Summer 2018 – prepare to feel incredibly old – a full 20 years since the show was first broadcast.
Speaking at last night’s BAFTA TV Awards, Dec said:
ITV have just agreed to it. They are on board now. We’ve had the first discussion now and it’s going to be August or September next year.
We can’t say too much but we’re getting the team back together! It’ll be on Saturday morning again at 9:25!
SMTV Live was first broadcast in August 1998, running until December 2003 when the pair took themselves off to present Pop Idol.
In equally ‘exciting’ news, Cat Deeley is also expected to join the reboot next year.
The three of them were recently on stage together during Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway grand finale at Disney World Orlando.
Speaking on stage, Ant said:
Now Cat, that will be 20 years next year, I reckon – we were talking – we should do a 20 year reunion next year.
And earlier this year Cat spoke about her desire to rejuvenate the classic show.
She told the Press Association:
I think it would be a great idea. It’s been 20 years. I think it’s about time, isn’t it, for all those with a misspent youth?
It was normally the Friday night that was the misspent youth and they woke up on the Saturday morning, slightly hungover.
So nothing’s changed there then…
