Ant McPartlin Charged After Crashing Into Car Carrying Three-Year-Old Girl

Ant McPartlin has been charged with drink-driving following his collision with three cars on Sunday, March 18. 

The Metropolitan Police announced McPartlin – who was arrested after the collision on suspicion of drink-driving – has now been charged, reports the BBC.

Minor injuries occurred at the scene and McPartlin was later interviewed under caution at Kingston police station.

The TV presenter will now appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 4 April.

If found guilty, McPartlin could face up to six months in prison, a fine and a driving ban lasting a year.

The 42-year-old was arrested at the scene of the accident after failing to pass a breathalyser test.

Following the crash, McPartlin revealed he would be going back to rehab.

His publicist, Simon Jones, released the following statement:

Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments.

He’s spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.

As such Saturday Night Takeaway will not be going ahead this Saturday.
