A fresh faced Ant McPartlin has been pictured smiling after leaving rehab following a month of intensive treatment.
The 42-year-old checked into rehab following his drink-driving car crash which took place on March 18.
McPartlin, who was pictured looking horrified and distraught in the aftermath of the crash, now appears in a much better place after he was photographed taking his dog for a walk in a London park earlier this week.
According to The Sun, a source told them ‘he now looks brighter’.
An onlooker said:
It was great to see him looking so well, and much more upbeat. In pictures taken after his accident Ant looked haunted.
He hadn’t shaved and looked like he hadn’t slept much. But the Ant we saw this week could have been a different person.
He looked healthier, brighter and had a big smile on his face.
Following the crash, McPartlin was charged with drink-driving, fined £86,000, and banned from driving for 20 months.
Appearing at Kingston police station on March 21, after being interviewed under caution McPartlin was charged with drink-driving.
It’s understood he was twice the legal limit during the incident which caused minor injuries resulting in a three-year-old girl being hospitalised.
The 42-year-old was arrested at the scene of the accident after he failed to pass a breathalyser test.
The Geordie TV star left rehab on Thursday, (April 26), following an intensive month of treatment, however he’s set to continue rehabilitation from home.
A statement released by Ant’s publicist in the immediate aftermath of his crash, read:
Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments.
He’s spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.
As such Saturday Night Takeaway will not be going ahead this Saturday.
A source close to Ant told The Sun:
Prior to the crash he was slightly in denial about how serious his problems were, and felt he had things under control. But as soon as that happened, he realised he was still in a downward spiral.
That was why he checked himself into rehab so quickly afterwards. He knew that he had to deal with his issues properly.
It’s been a very difficult month for him, but the treatment has done him the world of good.
He is looking and feeling much better. That said, he does know that there are no quick fixes.
He is still very committed to his recovery, and has a very strong support network around him.
He needs to concentrate all his energies into recovery.
