The Top Gear reboot hasn’t even hit TV screens yet, but some pretty big cracks are already appearing in the relationship between Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc.
The pair have allegedly fallen out over last month’s controversial Centotaph stunt, which was heavily criticised at the time for being disrespectful, reports the Huffington Post.
Evans issued an apology after the show faced a backlash, but he reportedly feels that LeBlanc turned the incident into a PR nightmare.
LeBlanc was reportedly signed up to the show to appeal to U.S. audiences – a decision that Evans is alleged to be unhappy about.
A source told The Sun:
Matt was never Chris’s choice – it was a decision forced upon him to attract the U.S. market.
He accepted it and was desperate to strike up a bond when they were filming, but the spark just wasn’t there.
Since the Cenotaph, their relationship’s deteriorated. Chris thinks Matt severely damaged the brand. Behind the scenes it’s very frosty between them.
But it doesn’t end there, the show has already been plagued by problems.
The crew reportedly turned up for a shoot at Folkestone Rugby Club without permission, and were also forced to abort a trip to Kazakhstan when they got caught up in a row between their host country and Russian airline Aeroflot.
In the meantime, Clarkson, May and Hammond seem to be getting on like a house on fire in the teaser for their new Amazon Prime show:
