Apple chief executive Tim Cook unveiled all of its new products at a huge launch event in San Fransisco today.
And there’s a lot of cool stuff on the way, including a TV box with its own app store, a larger iPad tablet and new iPhones which can actually detect how firmly their screens are being pressed.
The most exciting of the new announcements is probably Apple TV, a new set top TV box with its own app store and new operating system. The device can be operated by either remote control or voice control via microphone, uses Siri so users can request and search for shows or movies, and even plays video games.
The ninth and newest version of the iPhone was also unveiled. The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus come fitted with an improved 12-megapixel camera and 3D touch technology, as well as four different sexy metal finishes for the case.
The 3D touch technology includes a pressure-sensitive trackpad which will enable the user to access different options depending on how hard or long they press down on the screen. Nifty!
The new iPhone also comes with an A9 processor, which is 70 per cent faster than iPhone 6’s A8 chip on CPU tasks, and 90 per cent on graphics.
As for the iPad Pro, at 12.9-inches it’s larger than the previous models and nearly two times as fast as the Air 2.
It’s also compatible with the powered Apple Pencil (yes, you read that correctly – they announced a stylus with sensors in its tip which help it mimic the effect of using a real pencil on paper), which is ironic considering how much Steve Jobs hated the idea of a stylus in 2007.
The Apple Watch is also being updated, with the company collaborating with Hermès to produce faces and straps that come in different colours and materials. Plus there’ll be 10,000 apps available for the watch and Facebook Messenger is also on the way.
Above all else, just be glad you didn’t have to watch the whole event to check out all this cool new gear, because the conference ended with a musical performance by One Republic. No, really.
