Armed Police ‘At Scene’ After Vehicle Hits ‘Multiple People’ Following Eid Prayers In Newcastle

Emergency services have been called to the scene of a collision in Newcastle involving several pedestrians.

According to ChronicleLive ambulance services have confirmed they are treating pedestrians who were involved in a collision with the car.

Eye witness reports indicate that Muslims celebrating Eid were been struck by the motorist and up to six people, including three children, have been confirmed to be injured.

The BBC reports that an eight-year-old boy is said to have been critically injured in the incident.

A witness told The Chronicle:

There were lots of children there, people were gathering for prayers for Eid. My husband said he saw the car hit around six or seven people.

There are reports of armed police on the scene and a police helicopter has been scrambled.

Police have said that they don’t believe the collision was terror-related. Eye witnesses are reporting that the incident was an accident.

29-year-old Asif Anwar saw events unfold and claims he saw a woman lose control of her vehicle before colliding with pedestrians.

The lady lost control of the car and hit some people. two of them were kids.

Northumbria Police have released a statement claiming they’ve arrested a 42-year-old woman and that inquiries are ongoing.
