Army And Bomb Disposal Squad Called To Campus In Manchester

An army bomb disposal squad have been called to a campus in Manchester forcing them to close a number of roads, including main city centre road, Mancunian Way.

A large cordon has been set up around the Castlefield campus in Hulme.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were responding to a call to a “college in Trafford” and that they’d closed Mancunian Way, Limby Street and Jackson Street.

Shortly after, their initial tweet another was posted out to confirm the army were also on their way.

An update on the Manchester Evening News website reads: “We understand the incident is happening around the Castlefield Campus, which is on Limby Street. The bomb squad are at the scene and there is a police helicopter overhead.”

Police have carried out a series of raids following the devastating terrorist attack at Manchester Arena on Monday night.

So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the suicide bombing.

Twenty two people were killed and 120 injured after the explosion in the foyer of the venue following an Ariana Grande concert.

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed the incident in Hulme is over. The suspicious package was discovered to be safe.
