Now less than a month away from release, and we’ve got some more footage dripping through from the Assassin’s Creed movie. You lucky devils, you.
So, the clip is below and features death row inmate Callum Lynch – aka Michael Fassbender – as he’s about to take a magical carpet ride into the Animus (that’s the contraption they use to go into your memories and role-play as your ancestors). Check it out.
Th Animus in the Assassin’s Creed games is pretty different from the one in the movie. The game’s Animus is more like a bed that you have a quick ancestral nap in, whereas the movie’s Animus is a giant grabby claw of doom.
Our mate Fassbender recently spoke to Empire about the movie and his role:
It’s not like Star Wars, where you’ve got the light side and the dark side. This is very ambiguous morally. Both of these parties–the Templars and the Assassins–are hypocritical at certain points. There are not clear-cut good and bad characters.
I think it’s a little more provocative for an audience to see that. You know, ‘Should I be feeling that? Should I be backing this character?’ That’s always fun.
The Assassin’s Creed movie is out on December 21 and serves as a fresh take on Ubisoft’s admittedly tired franchise. If it performs well, we could see a new wave of high budget gaming movies on the horizon.
