The moment an Audi driver slammed on the brakes to avoid running over a family of ducks was caught on dashcam.
As dangerous as that is, I can tell you now, it is something I’d do as an instinct, I think. There’s no way I could run over a family of ducks.
While the Audi managed to avoid the birds, the car behind didn’t realise what was going on and seemingly drove into the back of it. And luckily, the ducks were ok.

The driver who caught the footage, posted the video online, and wrote:
Driving through Renton, WA, I moved to the side of the car in front of me so I could see the ducks more clearly, but as I watched I feared the Audi would crush them.
They stopped short, and the ducks were safe, but the driver behind the Audi did not see them stop.
After the stunt, a huge backlog of traffic started to build up, as you can see in the video, when the driver with the dashcam pulled over on the side of the road.
Presumably, the ducks were left to waddle off on their way totally unaware of what nearly just happened to the lot of them – which is a good job.
Not sure what the insurance company will make of it, though.
One family of nine ducklings who’d actually lost their motherbird were recently adopted by a friendly dog, in one of the best stories to emerge from 2018 so far.
10-year-old Fred – a very, very good boy, and Labrador – took to raising the little ones in the grounds of Mountfitchet Castle in Essex, England, ever since their mother vanished off the face of the Earth.
Photos taken by the castle manager showed the ducklings chilling on top of Fred at the local tourist attraction.
Jeremy Goldsmith, director of Mountfitchet Castle, said:
We knew the mother duck was nesting and then suddenly these ducklings appeared but she was nowhere to be seen. We think it was possibly a fox.
Another member of staff added:
They are getting very mischievous even hitching a ride on his back and following him into the water for a swim in the castle moat.
In a post on the castle’s Facebook page, a member of the team wrote:
Fred the resident dog at the Castle stepped up to the challenge when nine little ducklings became orphaned last Thursday.
The ducklings’ mum had disappeared and a member of staff found them waddling around the castle grounds alone.
The team were very worried about the ducklings but Fred, a 10 year old Labrador, immediately took to them and has been babysitting ever since. [sic]
