Australia has revealed their new $5 bank note and the public is outright hating it.
The new re-design has some of the same old features: it’s purple, has Queen Elizabeth on it, and the size is the same. But that’s not what is causing people to talk.
The nations $5 note will now feature toilet brush-like flora, a nip-and-tucked Queen and what looks like a child’s mural as the design. And people are not happy.
The Reserve Bank of Australia revealed the note on Tuesday, saying they will be issued into circulation on September 1 this year.
Reserve Bank Governor Glenn Stevens said: “Each banknote will depict a different species of Australian wattle and a native bird within a number of the elements. On the $5 banknote, these are the Prickly Moses wattle and the Eastern Spinebill.”
So the toilet brush is actually a wattle.
Either way, social media has made it pretty clear that Australia probably should have come up with something a little different.
