Production for the long-awaited sequel began on Monday in Manhattan Beach and by the sounds of it, we’re in for quite the experience.

It is said to be the most expensive film shoot in history, with another four sequels to come after it.

News of Avatar 2 was finally confirmed last week after eight years of speculation following the first Avatar film back in 2009.

Weta Digital had reportedly begun work on James Cameron’s fantasy saga last month.

Since we made Avatar, Weta continued to prove themselves as doing the best CG animation, the most human, the most alive, the most photo-realistic effects in the world.

And of course, that now means I can push them to take it even further.

The director boasted that the sequels are going to be so advanced we won’t be able to imagine what they’ll look like.

He added:

I’ve hired the best artists and technicians in the world to design these films. There will such a richness of imagery that I think people just won’t be able to imagine it in advance, but it will just seem right when they finally see it.

Are you excited?
