Avengers: Infinity War was a long film. A really long film. Two hours and 30 minutes, if you fancy a ballpark figure. For reference that’s about the length of The Godfather.

Excessive? You’re out of luck if you think so, Endgame is going to be even longer.

Some are saying the upcoming Marvel flick is going to be around three hours long. For reference, that is a f***ing long running time.

Co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo said one of the most recent edits stretches beyond three hours.

Joe added:

There’s a high probably that this movie will clock in at around three hours. It’s a big movie with a lot of story.

No kidding! The trailer for Endgame recently became the most viewed trailer in history.

In a tweet, Marvel Studios wrote:

To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!

What the!

Avengers: Endgame will bring to an end Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so it would make sense to kill off some original characters, including Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark who has long been rumoured as potentially making his exit in this film.

We didn’t know though ‘making his exit’ may mean his death.

And while we’re sure fans will flock to the cinema to see how the Avengers will finally defeat Thanos and undo ‘The Snap’ it may not end up being the biggest film of 2019.

Disney and Marvel will no doubt hope Endgame will be bigger than Infinity War but that’s an ambitious goal even for a film as eagerly anticipated as this.

Infinity War was a huge hit financially, breaking numerous records, including; becoming the first superhero film to take over $2 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the fourth biggest film ever, and the biggest film of 2018.

Not only was the film was widely heralded by fans, critics lauded praise for Josh Brolin’s wonderful performance (Thanos did nothing wrong) and directors Joe and Anthony Russo’s ability to perfectly balance character and action.

There’s going to be some serious competition from another Disney film coming out near Christmas time.

Star Wars: Episode IX is due for release in December 2019 and is the biggest threat to Avengers: Endgame’s box office domination, or will at least try to stop it being the year’s number one film.

And while the more cynical among you may suggest that fans will boycott Episode IX, like they allegedly did to Solo, in an attempt to ruin the film’s box office, let’s be real.

Avengers: Endgame hits cinemas worldwide on April 26, 2019.
