Avengers: Infinity War is coming to Netflix on Christmas Day to entertain you while you laze around with a food baby.

For some people, the best part of Christmas Day is the presents; for others, it’s the Christmas dinner, but I think this year, Marvel fans will be most excited about the release of the epic Avengers movie.

There won’t have to be any waiting around for the movie to come on as it’s scheduled in the TV listings, no worries about having to miss it while the cheese board is being served, the film will be available on demand, ready and waiting for you as you relax on the sofa at the end of the hectic day.

However, it’s only coming to Netflix in the US – so sorry to everyone else. In the UK, if you’ve got Sky, you’ll be alright over the festive period!

The news was announced on Twitter, where account NX On Netflix wrote:

Oh, snap. Avengers: Infinity War is coming to @Netflix on December 25.

There might be a few disgruntled parents out there who were really excited about the Infinity War DVD they’d bought as the perfect Marvel fan gift, but it’s the thought that counts.

At least they’ll know they were on the right track as you start up the film on the streaming service.

I’ve not seen Infinity War, but I’ve seen enough memes to know there’s some tear jerking scenes in there thanks to Thanos’ chaos, and *spoiler alert* it’s not really a happy ending for Spider-Man.

So the movie might put a bit of a downer on the cheery Christmas spirit, but the good thing about the film being released on Christmas Day is, it’ll be acceptable to have a glass of wine (or seven) to bring that merriment back in no time.

Avengers: Infinity War will join a host of other Marvel films on Netflix, including Doctor Strange and Iron Man 1, 2 and 3.

In a nod to talented writer and editor-in-chief of Marvel comics Stan Lee, who passed away earlier this month, Marvel films can be found on Netflix when you search the word ‘Excelsior’.

Many Twitter users seem overjoyed with the news, with one taking the opportunity to throw some Marvel characters into classic Christmas scenes by making a crossover into the world of Mean Girls:

Thanks for the Christmas present, Netflix!
