The power of nature can be unnerving, but also extremely awe inspiring, as this video demonstrates.
It was filmed at Teahupo’o, Tahiti, in French Polynesia, and shows a massive swell creating huge 30-foot waves, which people came and surfed. Rather them than me.
According to the caption on the video:
Teahupoo is one of the most powerful and deadly waves on the planet, and breaks over a shallow reef, creating a below sea level effect. “Teahupoo” loosely translates to “place of skulls”
The shoreline has claimed the lives of five surfers since 2000.
