Awesome Video Shows Simpson’s Film References Next To Their Original Scenes

The movie buffs among you will know that the creators of The Simpsons have a long history of dropping movie references into their episodes.

But even the geekiest film connoisseurs may have missed out on some of the more subtle nods to the world of film.

Don’t worry though, to help you out Vimeo user ‘cgmzz’ has created a video which lines up a whole host of the Simpson’s references alongside the real scenes they took inspiration from for comparison.

We can all recognise Homer going a little crazy and chopping his way through doors with an axe is taken from Stanley Kubrick’s iconic horror film The Shining.

On the other hand, some of them – like Groundskeeper Willie uncrossing his legs to reveal nothing under his kilt from Basic Instinct – are a little more subtle.

A personal favourite that didn’t make it onto the video was the ‘See My Vest’ scene based on Disney’s Beauty And The Beast:
