Barack Obama And Justin Trudeau Met Up For A Beer And The Internet Is Loving Their Renewed Bromance

The bromance of the year is well and truly back on, as former president of the United States Barack Obama and current prime minister of Canada Justin Trudeau were recently pictured catching up over a few beers.

The two buds met up for a couple of jars at the Big Rig Brewery in Ottawa, as Obama visited a number of locations in Canada.

It’s not been revealed what the two politicians discussed, but 47-year-old Trudeau tweeted: ‘Always great to catch up, @BarackObama. À la prochaine!’

Big Rig Brewery also shared the heart-warming moment on social media, saying:

Yesterday was a good day. What an honour it was to have @justinpjtrudeau and @barackobama stop by our brewery. Our doors and taps are always open. Cheers!

And added:

Thanks again to @justinpjtrudeau @barackobama and their amazing team for spending some time with us. It definitely made our day!

According to the Huffington Post, the Canadian PM enjoyed the brewery’s own Alpha Bomb IPA, while the former POTUS sunk a glass of the Canadian Amber (made with all-Canadian hops and malt, naturally).

Sophie Prescott, event and social media manager at Big Rig Brewery, said:

Yesterday was about friendship and respect — two friends catching up over a beer.

It was an incredible day, and we’re happy to provide them with a cool spot to just hang out and have a pint.

Obama was in Ottawa to hold a talk at the Canadian Tire Centre, where he spoke about his concerns with ‘deepfake’ videos.

Obama said he was worried these fake videos will have real-life consequences for people, making it difficult to separate fact and fiction.

He told the crowd:

People can duplicate me speaking and saying anything. And it sounds like me and it looks like I’m saying it — and it’s a complete fabrication.

The marketplace of ideas that is the basis of our democratic practice has difficulty working if we don’t have some common baseline of what’s true and what’s not.

At least we know Obama and Trudeau’s bromance is the real deal.
