Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump has a rather surprising fan, Barack Obama’s half brother.
Malik Obama has backed the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, despite his brother being a Democrat, saying he likes that Trump ‘speaks his mind and is straight forward’.
Obama’s brother made his surprising comments on Good Morning Britain this morning, and used the opportunity to slam the powerful politician for his ‘attitude’.
He said:
[Barack] has this attitude like ‘I’m the president, I’ve made it, I’m the star here’. I do understand that but I’m just expressing my opinion and how I feel.
As for why he’s backing Trump and the Republicans? Well the answers simple enough, Malik doesn’t like Hilary Clinton and wants to remind people, ‘the Republican party is the party of Abraham Lincoln – who freed slaves and freed the black man’.
Malik wasn’t afraid to take a mock Obama’s political record either, commenting on his broken promises and the state of the Middle East.
He explained:
Looking back, he made so many promises when he was running for president. He was riding on the promise of hope. There was so much excitement and we thought he would do so many things.
But look at the Middle East right now. It’s a mess. People are being killed all over the place; Berlin, Florida, France, Brussels. And look at the situation in Iraq right now.
It sounds like the bad blood between the brothers began because Barack makes Malik schedule visits through an assistant – which may sound unfair but Barack is literally the president so you probably forgive him for being a little busy.
