After a mess of leaks, Warner Bros has finally officially announced that remastered versions of the excellent Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City will be making their way to PS4 and Xbox One.
The games arrive on July 26 through the Batman: Return to Arkham bundle, reasonably priced £40. We’ve also got a new trailer that shows off the remasters in action.
The original games (and Arkham Knight) were powered in Unreal Engine 3, while these remasters make use of Unreal Engine 4 – that’s a whole one better, and marks a first for the series.
Development duties were handed to Chinese company Virtuous, as Rocksteady are presumably hard at work on their next game. Virtuous also co-developed Heavy Rain’s PS4 version and helped out with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which is a very pretty game indeed.
The remasters will include all DLC from both games, so expect the awesome Catwoman story content, sweet extra skins, and more to complement those enhanced graphics.
Batman: Arkham Origins is sadly missing from the bundle – presumably because it wasn’t developed by Rocksteady (or because nobody really liked that one).
Check out the trailer below.
So, who’s ready to track down all those fucking Riddler Trophies again? I just need to pump myself up before I can manage it.
