A Peruvian beauty pageant contestant has been slammed by the Internet after she posted a bizarre photo of herself appearing to use her cat as a punch bag.
According to the Mirror, Samantha Romina Vega had intended to share how she keeps fit with her Facebook fans.
However the image went viral for all the wrong reasons when it appeared to show her – in pink boxing gloves – with her cat in place of the punching bag.
A caption posted with the image said: “Training my daddy ufff after a long time.”
Miss Vega won the title Miss 2015 of El Tambo, located in the province Huancayo, Peru, however she has recently announced that she will be abandoning her modelling career to concentrate on her education.
She has now removed the image from Facebook, after the photo was widely circulated on social media channels used by animal rights activists. Miss Vega has now updated her Facebook to include an image of her hugging her cat.

She has refused to comment on the image specifically, but did say on Facebook:
We live in a hypocritical society, where on one side we say we should defend animal rights, yet at the same time consume animal flesh.
Yeah, but that doesn’t make punching cats okay…
