Beckham Opens Up About What All His Tattoos Actually Mean

David Beckham has recently added another tattoo to his already extensive collection, and some of the special meanings behind his body art have now been revealed.

Golden Balls got the number ‘99’ on his finger, as it represents a special year to him, the year he married Victoria.

Some of the tats are fairly self-explanatory, but some not so.

The angel on his arm with the text ‘In the face of adversity’ was done a month after Rebecca Loos claimed she had an affair with him.

Just below that is another angel, this time with the words ‘Let them hate as long as they fear’, a favourite saying of the Roman emperor Caligula, an incestuous, psychotic tyrant who believed he was a god. Odd choice.

Beneath that are the words ‘Pray for me’, believed to be inspired by his move to LA Galaxy.

The other arm features an image of Cupid and Psyche, and is based on a 15th century painting by artist Francesco Francia.

He also has his wife’s name in Sanskrit, but it was later revealed it actually says ‘Vihctoria’. Close.

Others include: a cross that represents the Knights Templar, the number ‘23’ to represent the shirts he wore at Real Madrid and LA Galaxy and roses to mark his 10th wedding anniversary.
