Bethesda finally re-announced Prey 2 during its E3 2016 press conference – except now it’s just called Prey, and it isn’t a remake.

The original Prey came out in 2006 and was developed by Human Head Studios. This new version of Prey is being developed by Dishonored’s Arkane studios, and will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Prey 2 was originally announced back at E3 2011, and pronounced cancelled in 2014. Director Raphael Colantonio revealed that this new incarnation is essentially a “re-imagining of the IP”.

The trailer shows us a character called Morgan, in a 2032. It would appear that Morgan is being subjected to some kind of experiments, that I imagine will form the bulk of the gameplay and narrative.

Billed as a psychological thriller set in a dangerous universe, Prey will be made up of one larger area in which you can revisit other areas and explore, and we’ll be able to play as either a male or female character. Morgan or Morgana?

You can check out the creepy first trailer below for a better look at this all new version of Prey.

Weird space beasts, shady experiments, and conversations with yourself in the mirror – it looks like it’s gonna be a pretty freaky game.

Prey will be released at some point in 2017. Now let’s all try and get used to not calling it Prey 2 before then.
