Biology GCSE Exam Asks Students Incredibly Bizarre Question

GCSE exams are stressful enough as it is, but when the exams start asking you questions about a completely unrelated subject you have to wonder…

Thousands of GCSE Biology students have been left both confused and furious after their AQA exam paper asked them a pretty bizarre question, reports the Huffington Post.

The exam, which supposedly covered the study of living organisms asked: “What is meant by the term independent business?” Okay… Apparently AQA managed to crowbar in the unexpected question as it related to a drugs trial company.

Once the exam had finished, disgruntled pupils quickly hit the ‘independent business’ Wikipedia page:

But it didn’t stop there – some ‘assumptions’ about the drinking habits of 15-year-olds made during one exam question have prompted a petition which has now gained close to 1,000 signatures.

Lorna Armstrong, a student from Newcastle who began the petition, wrote: 

I believe that AQA should issue an apology for including this question.

AQA told The Huffington Post it has ‘no problem’ with the questions, with a spokesperson saying:

Exams aren’t meant to be easy, but there was nothing wrong with this paper. We wish everyone the best of luck with the rest of their exams.

No one’s asking them to be easy – they’re just asking for them not to be offensive and to be about the right subject…
