Some people will take extreme lengths in their incessant pursuit of gains, and that can lead to some controversial strategies.

21-year-old Kirill Tereshin from the Russian city of Pyatigorsk is one such person.

Tereshin has been using synthol, a site enhancement oil, to rapidly increase the size of his biceps.

Tereshin adopted the risky regime after leaving the Russian military this summer, seeing a 26 cm increase in the circumference of his arms in just 10 days.

His ‘guns’ have now reached a behemoth 60cm.

The bodybuilder, who hopes to one day break records for the size of his biceps, said of his synthol use:

In order to reach such a size, you need to inject litres into your arms.

I was doing it and getting a fever of up to 40 degrees, I was lying in bed, feeling like I was dying, but then it all turned out fine.

The gain hunter has seen his weight increase from 62 kilograms (9st 11lbs) to 68 kilograms (10st 10lbs) since he started the injections, however, despite combining them with a regular workout routine there has been little impact on his actual strength.

This is his once natural look:

Когда в детстве задумался об инъекциях.

Having shared his fitness ‘journey’ via Instagram Tereshin has of course been subject to much criticism, with some commenters going so far as to suggest his mental health may be at risk.

Netizen ‘glacier’ said:

He should be sent to psychiatric hospital for
treatment.

While a user by the name of Tornado’ added:

This is awful. So stupid and ugly.

The risks, according to medical experts, associated with prolonged synthol use include;pulmonary embolisms, nerve damage, infections, sclerosing lipogranuloma, stroke and oil-filled cysts and the potential development of ulcers in the muscle.

Despite this, Tereshin is adamant he will continue to use the chemical aid.
