One young lad took himself off to live the absolute dream after getting into a heated argument with his parents.
The 12-year-old boy from Australia – who has not been named – nicked his mum’s credit card and booked himself a lovely trip to Bali.
Not only that, but he managed to spend four days of what I can only imagine to be absolute bliss living a life of luxury in a four-star resort!
So, how did the the young misadventurer manage to get away with his dastardly plan? Well it all sounds pretty straight forward to be honest.
Believe you me, this guy really wasn’t messing about.
Having managed to get his mitts on his poor mum’s credit card, and before booking his ‘cheap flights to Indonesia’ he did some extensive research to find out which airline would let him travel not just by himself, but without a written and signed letter from his parents.
He managed to find a ‘cheap deal’ to Indonesia and booked the flight on a school day, 9news reports.
So far so good right? Admittedly the furthest I got when I threatened to run away from home when I was kid was to the top of the street before I got a bit scared and a bit cold, but so far he’s not had to go over the top in treachery right?
This is where his cunning really kicks in.
The boy then tricked his grandma into handing over his passport to him, packed his trunks, sunnies, sun cream and sandals, grabbed his scooter and headed to the airport by train to go on his little adventure.
Once he’d arrived at the airport, he used the self-service checkout and boarded a connecting flight from Sydney to Perth, and then another to Denpasar.
The boy said he couldn’t believe how easy the whole thing was and was extremely shocked when not one person at Perth International Airport asked him why he was alone.
Speaking to A Current Affair, he said:
They just asked for my student ID and passport to prove that I’m over 12 and that I’m in secondary school.
By the time his poor parents had reported him missing when he didn’t show up for school, he was already living it up in the lap of luxury at the four-star All Seasons Hotel, filling his boots with virgin cocktails and soaking up some tropical sunshine – I imagine.
His mum Emma, a mother-of-two, said:
[I] was shocked, disgusted there is no emotion to explain how we felt when we found he had left for overseas.
On the other hand, the boy said:
It was great because I wanted to go on an adventure.
I can only imagine how long he’s been grounded for following his misdemeanour, and that’s not to mention the actually pretty serious issue of credit card fraud…
Either way, if anything I’m left feeling slightly jealous that firstly, my childhood rebellions never took me across a single international border and secondly, that I’ve got 20 years on him and I’ve never been to Bali!
