There may just be good news for fans of Breaking Bad who want Walter White back.
While the first two seasons of Vince Gilliagan’s Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul have featured a number of familiar faces, Bryan Cranston has now said that if he was called upon to bring Walter White back to the small screen, he’d be ‘all in’, Entertainment Weekly reports.
While appearing on Tuesday’s episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Cranston was asked if he’d be interested in appearing on Better Call Saul.

I owe Vince Gilligan so much. He was my champion to get this role. I was the guy coming off Malcolm in the Middle.
If they were to call me and say, ‘We have this idea, we’d like … ,’ I would say, ‘Yes, you don’t have to finish the pitch. I’m there, what do you want me to do?’
Now, the general idea behind Better Call Saul is that it takes place before Breaking Bad and couldn’t feature many of the show’s major characters – including Jesse Pinkman and badass version of Walter White. So that’s the catch.
It’s possible that Jesse could make an appearance in his early form, but it wouldn’t have much impact.
And considering the show is set pre Walter White cancer diagnosis, we’d more likely be seeing the lowly teacher with no thirst for power – a character far from ‘the one who knocks’.

I know how careful they are and proprietary they are with those characters and those storylines, and it wouldn’t be something, ‘Oh, isn’t that kind of a stunt casting kind of thing.’ It would be something kind of unique and obscure and creative, and I’m all in.
In fact, turns out Cranston’s such a big Better Caul Saul fan that the show invited him to direct an episode, but he’s wavering because of spoilers.
So there you have it. There’s no Walter White role reprise scheduled for anytime soon, but it’s not off the table. Let’s hope Gilligan decides to bring ‘the one who knocks’ (or a version of him) back.
