The question that’s on everyone tech connoisseur’s lips has been answered: Can an iPhone 7 really survive being dropped off the world’s tallest building?
The iPhone 7 has been steeped in hype, from the extended battery life to waterproof technology. One blogger has now investigated whether it can hold its own against the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 829 meters (2720 feet) tall.
Just to put that in perspective, it’s about twice the height of the Empire State building.
After flinging the £719 phone from the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa – in which there are apparently useless safety barriers to stop things from plummeting towards the ground – the vlogger for TechRax concluded that the iPhone was ‘completely fried’.
He attempted to locate the phone using a tracking app… And unsurprisingly, failed. The Ukranian vlogger who ‘specialises in smashing technology for your pleasure’ probably could’ve predicted that outcome.
While some witty commentators on YouTube said the vlogger should’ve switched the phone to aeroplane mode, others were more concerned for the safety of the people below, and berated the Ukranian for allegedly putting pedestrians in danger for the sake of a few clicks.
