CCTV footage has been released of the terrifying moment an explosive device was detonated in Manhattan, New York City, injuring at least 29 people.
The video shows people walking past a construction site in the Chelsea district of Manhattan at around 8.30pm on Saturday evening.
Suddenly, there is a huge flash in the road and passers-by begin fleeing from the scene.
Police have claimed that the explosion appeared to come from a toolbox in front of a building, according to Associated Press.
Just blocks away from the scene, a second device was recovered, which was reportedly a pressure cooker connected to a phone.
Donald Trump spoke about the explosion at a rally in Colorado Springs.
The presidential hopeful said:
Just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what’s going on, but, boy we are really in a time. We better get very tough, folks.
It’s a terrible thing that’s going on in our world and in our country and we are going to get tough and smart and vigilant. We’ll see what it is. We’ll see what it is.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton said that the nation needs to support the emergency workers, pray for the victims and “let the investigation unfold.”
More as we get it.
