MotoauthorityCar enthusiasts around the world are probably keeping an eye on the Monterey Auction, with huge bids going in left, right and centre for some pretty special cars.
The highlight of the cars on sale has to be the Pinnacle Portfolio, which contains the likes of the 400th Ferrari Enzo, the first ever sold Bugatti Veyron, a rare McLaren F1 that had been upgraded to an even rarer LM spec, and also a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM.
The highest bid was an eye-watering $17.6 million, for the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, and that is a record price paid for the car – unsurprisingly.
The 400th Ferrari built sold for $6.05 mil, with that money being given to charity, after the car was initially gifted to Pope John Paul II, and the second most expensive model in the collection, the McLaren, which managed to sell for $13.75 million.
The auction was handled by RM Auctions, and there are plenty more big money cars to come this weekend, as part of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance weekend.
