John Pollono (Stronger) will reportedly pen the script alongside Scott Silver (8 Mile).

The film will reportedly not attempt to depict the entirety of Hogan’s life and career, neither will it focus on the sex tape scandal which made headlines back in 2012.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources report there will be a focus on Hogan’s rise, described as an ‘origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania’.

Hogan was, and still is, one of the biggest stars of wrestling. He was a regular fixture on TV sets in the ’80s, and was a fan favourite during his time with the World Wrestling Federation.

Born Terry Gene Bollea, the Hulkster began his career in the late 1970s, on the Florida wrestling circuit.

During his time in the WWF, he frequently squared off against the late, Andre the Giant. When Vince McMahon took charge and started to grow the company, Hogan was the face and by then, a hero persona – a ‘real American’.

By the end of the ’80s, Hogan was one of the decade’s key personalities. He graced numerous magazine covers and appeared on numerous talk shows, even headlining a Saturday morning cartoon.
