No-one could help noticing the lack of non-white nominees for this years Oscars and it seems this year’s host hasn’t eluded to it either…

Controversially, Chris Rock will be one of the few black people on stage during the glitzy ceremony on February 28th and he couldn’t help by poking fun at the Academy Awards.

The comedian stopped short of using the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag, but he definitely made a quiet nod to the situation by referring to the Oscars as the ‘white BET awards’ when he posted a new teaser for the show.

The lack of diversity at the awards is sadly becoming a recurring theme, as for the second year in a row now, black actors were shut out of the nominations. The Oscars class of 2016 is once again solely composed of white actors and actresses, despite the Academy taking steps to address diversity.

The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite has been trending on social media due to the lack of minority races, in addition to the Academy receiving backlash for snubbing African-American-led films like Straight Outta Compton, Beasts of No Nation and Concussion.

Also, despite Sylvester Stallone wining a Golden Globe win for best supporting actor and receiving a nomination at the Oscars for his role in Creed, neither his co-star Michael B Jordan nor director Ryan Coogler were nominated.

The guys at the Academy seriously need to sort their shit out…
