Christian Bale famously lost four stone in four months while preparing for the role of troubled Trevor in The Machinist.
Now, the dedicated method actor is at it again but in reverse; sporting a chunkier frame as he preps for the role of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
43-year-old Christian was spotted looking notably heavier at Collarado’s Telluride Film Festival. He had even lightened his dark eyebrows to more closely match Dick’s colouring.
Clearing up any confusion surrounding his new look, Christian made the following comment on a recent Instagram post:
You chaps want a recent picture? Well, Im sure you’ve seen it on the news recently, but this is what dedication to a role looks like.
Once again, another big weight transformation for the books. Thank you Adam McKay for giving me such a task, and for trusting me during this process of becoming Dick Cheney.
Backseat will begin filming this month, and will look at the formidable influence Dick Cheney had on the decisions made during the Bush administration.
Dick is often regarded to have had more policy shaping power than any US Vice President before him. This new film will examine how Dick heavily influenced the Bush administration’s policies after 9/11.
The Office star Steve Carrell will reportedly star alongside Christian, playing former Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
This looks set to be a meaty and complicated role, but if there’s anyone who can pull it off and make the film memorable, it’s Christian.
Really looking forward this…
