The RSPCA have branded two men complete idiots after they were pictured surfing a turtle on an Australian beach.
Ricky Rogers uploaded a picture to Facebook showing two blokes, holding what appeared to be a beer cans, balanced on top of a turtle along with the caption: “Surfed a tortoise on zee weekend.. gnarly duddddeeeee (sic).”
The post soon went viral and sparked outrage online as people shared the shocking image, which is believed to have taken at Fraser Island in Queensland, the Mirror reports.
The post has since been removed and Ricky Roger’s account made private but The Mirror report that one user left a pretty withering post under the ridiculous status.
The user wrote:
When your brain is the size of a peanut, your thought process is ridiculous. Share this around and let’s see if we can get this fool a nice hefty fine
An RSPCA spokesperson, Micheal Beatty, told a local paper that both of the men were ‘complete idiots’ who shouldn’t have been doing what they were doing.
Although the picture is ridiculous the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service believe there’s some evidence the turtle may have been dead at the time of the photo.
Despite this both men could still face a fine for the picture and the Wildlife Service is currently investigating the matter further.
