The West Hollywood City Council are fighting to have President Donald Trump’s Hollywood star removed completely.
After the POTUS’ Hollywood Walk of Fame star in LA was destroyed for the second time, the West Hollywood City Council are doing what they can to get it removed.
Trump received his star in 2007 after appearing on the US’ The Apprentice, but since he got into politics, his mark on the floor of Hollywood has faced some backlash from protestors and haters.
Most recently, a man completely destroyed the star with a pickaxe. He turned himself in to the police and was arrested, but was bailed out by the man who had destroyed the star before him.
People against the President have also built a wall around Trump’s section of pavement in the past, spray painted a swastika on to it, and covered it in stickers saying ‘I resist’.
Following the multiple and seemingly endless attacks on the Walk of Fame star, the City Council in West Hollywood decided to fight to get it removed.
West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tem John D’Amico explained to TheWrap why the council believed Trump no longer deserved his star.
He said:
The West Hollywood City Council did not pass the resolution because Donald Trump is a conservative or a Republican.
Earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an honor. When one belittles and attacks minorities, immigrants, people with disabilities or women — the honor no longer exists.
The council met on Monday to discuss the issue. The agenda read:
The City Council will consider adopting a resolution urging the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove President Donald J. Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, due to his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country.
Early this morning, the West Hollywood Mayor John Duran tweeted that the council were unanimous in passing the resolution to ask the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove Trump’s star.

Despite the council’s unanimous decision, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may not agree to their request.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the chamber does not remove stars as a result of public backlash.
Chamber CEO Leron Gubler said:
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.
As a result of the most recent destruction of the star, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce explained they were working with the police to prosecute – something they would do for any act of vandalism taken against the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Historic Trust also plan to fix the star ‘immediately’.
