In a disturbing series of events, a drug addicted couple gave their newborn baby daughter drugs in a despicable bid to hide the mother’s heroin addiction.

The poor girl was merely hours old when her parents, 26-year-old Lacey Dawn Christenson and 29-year-old Colby Glen Wilde, crushed up a Suboxone pill and rubbed it into the tiny infant’s gums – Suboxone is a strong painkiller which is prescribed for treating addiction and can result in death if misused.

Lacey had taken heroin and prescription painkillers throughout her pregnancy which resulted in the child developing a drug addiction while still in the womb – the unthinkable act was part of a plot to conceal the newborn’s addiction from doctors and nurses.

The vile couple, from Utah, admitted to child abuse after they were arrested for a shocking attempted theft at a Walmart store, reports KUTV.

According to shop workers, Colby had been taking items from the shelves and trying to blag a refund as if he had already purchased them – unsurprisingly, he was refused a refund before being approached by loss prevention employees.

Colby then made a sloppy and selfish attempt to flee the store, before he slammed into the closed doors while running from security – dropping a car seat which had his brand new baby daughter inside.

After dropping his daughter for a second time, Colby thrust her into the arms of a stranger before taking off in his car – luckily his attempt at an escape crumbled when a local sheriff deputy turned up.

Colby Glen was then booked for a hefty set of charges: suspicion of a DUI, possession of heroin and methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and driving without a licence.

Lacey had been in the Walmart store throughout the idiotic crime spree, alongside their three sons, aged between two and eight, before being arrested and charged for an outstanding warrant.

Their four children have been taken into the custodial care of the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, (DCFS) with the newborn being admitted into hospital.

At this point however, the police did not know the true depths to which the criminal couple had sank…

A woman, who had been taking care of the family’s pets, contacted police after discovering drugs at Lacey’s and Colby’s home.

After obtaining a search warrant, police discovered paraphernalia throughout the house, including next to a baby bassinet and a child’s cup.

Sickeningly, the DCFS confirmed that the two youngest boys along with the baby girl, had all tested positive for crystal meth, while the newborn also tested positive for heroin and morphine.

Utah County Sheriff's Department

Utah County Sheriff’s Sergeant, Spencer Cannon said:

It makes me sick to my stomach, for a number of reasons.

You’ve got an infant who cannot do anything for herself and the people who should be providing her nurture, love, and care, are the ones who are harming their child.

We just hope that this little girl and her brothers are now getting the love and care that they deserve.
