The Georgia Court of Appeals has ruled that it is not legally an invasion of privacy if a woman’s upskirt is photographed in public.
As reported by CBS, if similar images are captured behind closed doors, such as a dressing room or bathroom stall it is illegal, but walking on the street it remains legal.
The law cannot apparently be changed until the next legislative session, which is not until spring 2017.
Tanya Washington, a Georgia State University Law Professor, argued against the decision.
She said:
You’ve given people license to continue this kind of behavior until the next legislative session which is not until next year.
State Senator Vincent Fort was similarly unimpressed that action hasn’t been taken immediately.
He said:
So we’re going to have six months or so where these creeps can run around doing this stuff.

The decision was made with a 6-3 vote, and the opinion of the judges was that the wording of privacy law is flawed and lawmakers are the ones required to amend it.
While that may be the case the fact innocent citizens are not currently protected is just ridiculous.
Seemingly it is the age old issue of archaic laws not accounting for future technology and the potential problems posed.
Depressingly women in the state must now be on guard for dealing with this type of shit, and until changes are made they do not even have legal grounds to protect themselves should such images of them make it onto the internet.
