This cyclist had one of the luckiest escapes ever, after he crashed head-first into a car at high speed and, incredibly, survived.
During the Tour of Utah, Matt Brammeier appeared to lose control of his bike while attempting to take a sharp corner and instead smashed right into a service car.
As officials went to check on Brammeirer, two more cyclists clipped a motorcycle, before spectators wisely shouted at other rapidly approaching riders to slow down.
According to Velo News, the collision resulted in severe injuries to Brammeier’s pelvis, ribs, and a lung but he miraculously suffered no damage to his head, neck or spine.
While he suffered nasty injuries in the crash, things could have been even worse had the car not been in the way of his momentum, as Brammeier appeared to be heading straight towards the edge of a cliff!
And Brammeier seems to be in good spirits following the accident, tweeting a picture from his hospital bed:

We wish him a speedy recovery!
