Bowers, 35, claimed he was acting in self defence when he punched Sophia Cahill in the face, leaving her with a bloody nose.

Cahill claims Bowers launched the attack after she asked him why he had glitter on his face. The couple were broken up, but while they lived in the same house they had promised not to see other people.

After she pointed out the glitter she says Bowers grabbed her by the shoulders, before throwing her out the bedroom, hitting her in the face, resulting in the bloody nose.

The ex-Another Level star admitted to the court he made contact with Cahill during a scuffle, but that it was an accident. He claimed he’d been at a circus-themed nightclub the previous evening, hence the glitter.

But district judge Andrew Sweet found him guilty, saying:

I am satisfied that he assaulted her in the manner she described.

It was a sustained assault, causing her injuries, that took place in the presence of her two children. The charge is proved.

He’s yet to be sentenced, but the judge warned him he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a prison sentence.
