After months of whispers and the Hollywood rumour mill working overtime, Daniel Craig has confirmed he will be playing James Bond once more.

Craig’s admission confirms the blonde Bond, who brought a darker narrative to the otherwise tongue-in-cheek spy franchise, will be back on the big screen.

You can watch him tease the reveal on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the clip below:

The 49-year-old Brit actor told Colbert:

I’ve been quite cagey about it.

I’ve been doing interviews about it all day and people have been asking me and I’ve been kind of coy but I kind of felt like, if I was going to speak the truth, I should speak the truth to you.

When pressed to give Colbert good news about Craig return to the 00’s, Daniel said: “Yes, and I couldn’t be happier.”

The announcement has left many shaken, not stirred, as hopes for a more diverse Bond are shattered.

However, Craig’s portrayal in first Casino Royale, then Sykfall, Quantum of Solace and finally, Spectre, added a welcome dimension to the Lothario-turned-spy viewers hadn’t seen before.

You can watch Bond at his best (according to some) in Sam Mendes’ Spectre below:
