Daniel Craig - New James Bond movie Casino Royale

Daniel Craig may have had his license to kill revoked after signing up for a new U.S. television series.

According to The Sun, the 47-year-old is set to star in the show Purity, which its hoped will run for several series each at 20 episodes apiece, meaning that he’ll be too busy to protect queen and country.

As of now, the reports are just rumours but they’re certainly plausible. Only last year while promoting Spectre, the actor claimed he’d rather ‘slash his wrists’ than play James Bond again.

In fact, Craig’s bashing of the popular spy series got so bad that he was allegedly told to ‘shut up’ by the studio.

It’s believed that Craig’s opinion towards the franchise soured after the difficult Spectre shoot, where he injured his knee and last minute rewrites forced late re-shoots.

However, the British actor’s time in the legendary tux may not be over just yet. After the incredible success of Skyfall, it was reported he’d been offered a deal to be paid £31 million for his next two 007 films, including Spectre, meaning that he’s contractually bound to star in at least one more film.

Craig told Mail On Sunday’s Event magazine in September that there’s a deal in place which may require him to keep going, saying: ‘I’m contracted for one more but I’m not going to make predictions.’

Despite there being no official word on whether Craig’s in or out, the Internet is already rife with rumours of who’ll be the next actor to take on the iconic role.

Beasts of No Nation star, Idris Elba, is a firm fan favourite for the role, and sparked a heated debate about whether there could ever be a black James Bond. Other favourites include Wolf Hall and Homeland star Damian Lewis as well as Tom Hiddleston, Henry Cavill, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy.

Only time will tell whether Craig’s Bond is finished or whether he’ll die another day…
