In a recent interview with EW Daniel Radcliffe, who played the boy who live on the big screen, admitted that he found Ralph Finnes, the actor who brought series big bad Voldemort to life, ‘genuinely intimidating’.

Finnes even managed be scarier than Alan Rickman, who Daniel also found intimidating at first, although to be fair he was only 11 when he started the Potter movies so we’ll forgive him.

Daniel said:

I remember when I was 15 doing scenes with Ralph for the first time. He was even scarier than Alan [Rickman] was at first. Alan was super intimidating to start off with as well, but then you get into it, but Ralph genuinely scared me for a few years.

He went on to add that he thought thing would be different if they were working on a light-hearted comedy so we imagine the tension helped young Daniel with his acting.

Radcliffe spoke about other Harry Potter alumni as well, describing Maggie Smith as ‘sharp as a knife’ and the late great Alan Rickman as ‘generous’.

The Potter star said only last week that he wouldn’t rule returning as the bespectacled boy-wizard pointing to Harrison Ford’s example in the Star Wars films.
