David Beckham has hit back at The Daily Mail after they criticised his parenting skills this week in an article that asked why his daughter was still using a dummy.
The footballing legend and father-of-four, in an Instagram post, said the news giants had “no right” to criticise his “controversial” decision to allow four-year-old Harper to use the dummy.
The article, published on Monday, claimed that Harper was “well beyond the age” that health experts would recommend the use of a pacifier, and went on to say that the Beckham family were putting Harper at risk of developing problems with her speech and teeth growth.
Furthermore, the article even introduced a ‘parenting expert’, who expressed disproval at the Beckhams’ continued allowance of the pacifier and unbelievably suggested that it could all be down to Harper being their last child.
Shortly after the article went viral online, with many people sticking up for the couple, a response was issued by David on his Instagram account.
The caption reads, in full: “Why do people feel they have the right to criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts? Everybody who has children knows that when they aren’t feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it’s a pacifier.
So those who criticize think twice about what you say about other people’s children because actually you have no right to criticize me as a parent…”
The post has since garnered close to 600,000 likes on the popular image sharing platform, with an overwhelming amount of support for David and Victoria in the comment section.
