Another spot of E3 news that we pretty much already knew about thanks to early leaks – Microsoft has officially confirmed Dead Rising 4.
The fourth entry in the zombie slaying franchise will act as something of a remake/re-imagining of the original Dead Rising. Protagonist Frank West is back, as well as Willamette – the location of the mall that played host to the first game’s carnage.
Dead Rising 4 will be set (as suspected) during Christmas and will feature four-player online co-op play, which is sure to be absolutely insane.
Even more mental is Frank’s new arsenal of zombie killing gear. The Dead Rising franchise is known for giving you as many ridiculous tools as possible, but this time around they’ve gone all out.
I especially like the power suit, which Frank uses to get up close and personal with the undead horde. See below.
Developer Capcom Vancouver are working on the game in Unreal Engine 4, so expect buckets and buckets of lovely looking zombie guts.
You can check out the fantastically festive trailer below for a good look at some of the chaos you’ll be able to cause when the game launches – I never knew how much I needed a candy cane crossbow before now.
Would this reveal had been sweeter if we hadn’t known about it days before? I dunno. All I know is I can’t wait to jump into that power suit and pull a zombie in half for myself.
Unsurprisingly, given the theme of the trailer, Dead Rising 4 was given a “holiday 2016” release date.
