The body of missing girl Melanie Wilson was found today outside a property in Sutton-in-Ashfield after she disappeared from her home on October 19.

The last that was heard from Melanie, 22, was an eerily preemptive text saying ‘I love you’ that she sent to her dad the day she went missing.

The charity shop volunteer’s body has yet to be formally identified, but Melanie’s family has been made aware of the development after their long search, the Mirror reports.

Melanie’s heartbroken dad spoke of how he replied to her text saying ‘I love you too darling’ inan emotional plea to find her.

Mr Wilson said:

If you see, hear or read this just please get in touch as soon as possible. We’re all heartbroken and we just want you to come back.

You’re not in any trouble, we just need to know where you are and that you are safe.

I’d imagine hell is similar to what I and family and friends are going through. We’re all heartbroken. Everywhere we look there’s a reminder of her.

During the search, the police handed out leaflets urging the local public to check their gardens, sheds and any other places which may be hidden from view

The Nottinghamshire Police dive team also carried out searches at King’s Mill Reservoir at the Sutton Lawn Park pond, while local residents formed search parties.

Mr Wilson reported to have seen her a couple of days before her disappearance when she ‘seemed her usual self’.

Our thoughts are with her family at this time.
