An ancient mummy, recently discovered in the mountains of Mongolia, looks like it may have unlocked the secrets of time travel…

Scientists unearthed the 1,500-year-old remains of a woman’s hands and feet high up in the Altai mountains – and it looks like she was rocking a pair of Adidas trainers, reports The Sun.

The trademark three stripe footwear is of course causing quite a stir on the Internet.

One Live Leak user said: “Didn’t know they had Adidas back then…” While another asked: “The mummy had on some Adidas in the first pic?”

In all seriousness though, this could prove to be an incredibly important find. Archeologists believe the Turkik burial – the first found in Central Asia – will reveal details of ancient Mongolian life.

They discovered the corpse had been buried with a saddle, bridle, clay vase, wooden bowl, trough, iron kettle, and an entire horse.

B. Sukhbaatar, researcher at Khovd Museum, told the Siberian Times:

This is a very rare phenomenon. These finds show us the beliefs and rituals of Turkiks.

We can see clearly that the horse was deliberately sacrificed and that it was a mare, between four and eight years old.

The team have also been able to date the burial to around the end of the 6th century AD by analysing the various artefacts found at the site.

Mr Sukhbaatar added:

The finds show us that these people were very skilled craftsmen.

Given that this was the grave of a simple person, we understand that craft skills were rather well developed.

There is no word yet on whether the trainers are Gazelles or the classic Samba, but scientists are pretty sure they were bought in a Sports Direct ‘closing down’ sale.
