Trump v Boris – the battle of the hair is on.

It seems Donald Trump and Boris Johnson don’t have much common ground besides their wild blonde hair, and after Trump criticised the English capital the Mayor of London was quick to put him back in his place.

The Republican presidential hopeful was asked on MSNBC if he thought Muslims were needed to help combat extremism.

Trump replied:

If you look at Paris – and I hate to do this, the chamber of commerce is gonna go crazy – Paris is no longer the same city it was. They have sections in Paris that are radicalised – police refuse to go in there. They’re petrified.

We have places in London and other places that are so radicalised the police are afraid for their own lives.

But his ridiculous comments didn’t go unchallenged, and London mayor Boris Johnson was quick to jump to the city’s defence, saying:

As a city where more than 300 languages are spoken, London has a proud history of tolerance and diversity and to suggest there are areas where police officers cannot go because of radicalisation is simply ridiculous.

Crime has been falling steadily both in London and in New York – the only reason I wouldn’t go to some parts of New York is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump.

Burn.

Although you might think the ridiculous shit Trump comes out with would be damaging his chances of becoming President of the United States, BBC reporter Anthony Zurcher said Mr Trump’s poll ratings have actually risen after other hardline statements.
