Donald Trump Goes Well Off-Script And Hugs US Flag During Expletive-Laden Speech

Donald Trump is all about loving and protecting the US, as he emphasised recently by smugly hugging the American flag, before going off on a rant about people who apparently hate the country.

The President of the United States appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), to the sound of Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA, before proceeding to go off-script in a two-hour-long speech.

Of course, two hours is a long time to ‘wing it’, so Trump ended up ranting about a range of different things, many of which weren’t even mentioned in his original scripted speech, apparently.

He addressed the audience, saying:

You know I’m totally off-script right now and this is how I got elected, by being off-script.

And if we don’t go off-script, our country’s in big trouble, folks, because we have to get it back.

The POTUS went on to take some shots at Robert Mueller, who’s preparing to file a report about the alleged collusion between Trump’s 2016 campaign, and Russia.

He said:

We’re waiting for a report by people who weren’t elected.

Unfortunately you put the wrong people in a couple of positions and they leave people for a long time that shouldn’t be there and all of a sudden they’re trying to take you out with bullshit.

After that, it was time to address climate change.

The President has made it known in the past he doesn’t believe in climate change; a very worrying stance considering he’s the most powerful man in the world, and at the CPAC, he made it clear he doesn’t quite understand how renewable energy works.

He criticised Democratic lawmakers, who are calling for a Green New Deal which would aim for the US to reach 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030.

According to The Independent, Trump sarcastically said:

I think the new green deal, or whatever the hell they call it. The Green New Deal, right? I encourage it. I think it’s really something that they should promote.

No planes. No energy. When the wind stops blowing, that’s the end of your electric. ‘Let’s hurry up. Darling, darling, is the wind blowing today? I’d like to watch television, darling.’

Following those questionable remarks, he turned his attention to some lawmakers in Congress, people who he claims hate the US.

He also criticised some foreign-born congressional members with inflammatory comments:

Right now we have people in Congress that hate our country and you know that. And we can name every one of ’em if they want. They hate our country. Sad. It’s very sad. When I see some of the things being made, the statements being made, it’s very, very sad.

Find out how did they do in their country? Just ask ’em, how did they do? Did they do well, were they succeeding? Just ask that question.

Somebody would say, ‘Oh, that’s terrible that he brings that up.’ But that’s OK, I don’t mind, I’ll bring it up. How did they do in their country? Not so good, not so good.

To me, at least, the speech sounded like Trump’s Twitter feed come to life. Ignoring his script, he decided to rattle on about whatever sprung to mind, and it resulted in a lot of ignorant insults.

Just another day in the life of Donald Trump, I suppose.
