PADonald Trump has been pretty active on Twitter lately following the controversial events in various sporting leagues.
Scores of sportsmen have been taking the knee during the national anthem to protest social injustices and the running of the country, clearly upsetting the president.
He has been tweeting an awful lot over the past couple of days about the controversy surrounding the NFL and NASCAR leagues in particular.
PAAbsent from these tweets was any mention of Puerto Rico, which has just been devastated by Hurricane Maria.
The US territory has no electricity or running water, and communications are nearly non-existent.
The crisis is so severe that the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico estimates the island has been set back decades by the catastrophe.
PATrump’s failure to address the issue was noticed around the world as he continued to focus on the comparatively trivial issues facing his ego.
And finally, Marc Anthony, Puerto Rican dancer and Grammy-winning artist has called out Trump for his failure to address the problem.

He tweeted:

Interestingly enough, this is a sentiment Trump has held himself about previous presidents – well, one in particular.

In Trump’s defence, he has since tweeted about the natural disaster, but seemed to place more emphasis on the already existing debt of the island, which ‘must be dealt with’.
Texas & Florida are doing great but Puerto Rico, which was already suffering from broken infrastructure & massive debt, is in deep trouble..

He also remarked that ‘food, water and medical are top priorities – and doing well’, but this report doesn’t match up with other reports on the ground of the catastrophe.
Governor Ricardo Rosselló has warned that Puerto Rico is on the brink of a ‘humanitarian crisis’, according to The Guardian.
Let’s just hope Puerto Rico can get the humanitarian aid they need from FEMA and other sources as soon as possible.
